Follow your dreams by chasing GOD

Good Morning!

God is funny, isn’t He?  He gives us dreams and goals to chase after, and then he tells us to dream BIG.  When we do, people look at us like we have 49,069,000 heads!  Sometimes we look at our dream that way ourselves-don’t we?  We say, “ you want me to do what?’  “How am I going to do that?”  You hear a little whisper that says “trust…obey…follow me…forget the crowd…just look at me.”

So we do, or at least we try.  Life happens, things come and go and we forget the dream.  That brings tears to my eyes-NEVER FORGET YOUR DREAM-EVER.  Listen to me- get piece of paper a BIG piece and draw your dream-write your dream-make it visual and put it in a frame and hang it where you will see it every single day.  Then PRAY to GOD to show you how to make that dream come to life.  We must SEE our goals on a daily basis.  Plaster it behind your eyelids, post in your refrigerator and make it visible to the world.  Talk about it, pray about it and give it to God.  He will guide you.  He is the lamp that lights our way.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Light of the World

Remember good old Joshua?  ( Joshua 1-4) He was given the huge task of blazing a new trail into the Promised Land.  The first thing he did was send out spies to investigate the area.  The second thing he did was at the Jordan River.  He was at the river with all the people and he told them to get ready-or to “sanctify” themselves because God was getting ready to work wonders among them.  He was really telling them “people, get ready!  prepare your hearts for what God is about to do!”  When we sanctify ourselves we get ourselves ready to be used for God’s service.   To me this means we don’t follow the beaten path, we don’t follow the world, and we don’t do what everyone else around us is doing.  This doesn’t mean we are better than anyone else or “holier than thou” because we aren’t.  It just means that we focus all of our energies on GOD and don’t get caught up in the junk of the world.

God told Joshua to “get going.”

He’s telling me to “get going”  too.  He’s telling me to BELIEVE just like he did Thomas.   ( John 20)  Thomas didn’t believe that Jesus was alive.  So Jesus said, “ let me prove it to you-stick your fingers in my hands and in my side.”

Then he said “ Don’t be unbelieving! BELIEVE!”

Thomas said, “My Master! My God!”

29 Jesus said, “So, you believe because you’ve seen with your own eyes.

Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing.”

Isn’t that wonderful news?  Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing…………

heart painting

Right after God told Joshua to get going he told him this: ( Josh 1)

“  I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage! You are going to lead this people to inherit the land that I promised to give their ancestors.

Give it everything you have, heart and soul.

Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. “

God goes before us.  He is always with us and He knows the plans he has for us-plans to give us a hope and future-plans to PROSPER us-not to harm us.

If there is something that you feel like God is asking you to do and you are having trouble believing it- let me encourage you to look to God.  Write it down, pray over it and then paint a picture of it, plan it out and wait for God to move on it.  Make it visible so that you will believe it.  Pursue it with God as your focus.  He is the light that shows us the way.  Patience is not one of my strong points, but God is teaching me how to listen, how to take notes, how to plan and how to pray.  In doing all of these things He is increasing my belief by sending affirmation through people, circumstances and life and even dreams. ( more on this later)    These are the weavings of the Holy Spirit.  So, be encouraged and KNOW that God is with you-that He has gone before you and has already blazed the trail… He’s just waiting for you to follow…..

Let me encourage you to read and study Joshua and listen for God’s whisper in your ear…

He’s all you need….

Psalm 42

the wave

I’ve been working on this “wave” drawing.  I woke up from my sleep two nights ago with this wave image in my mind.  So, I started working it on paper.  I thought I might paint it but wanted to work out the colors first.   So, this morning I was listening to a teaching by Margie Burger.  She was talking about “Intimacy with God.”  Some of the things she said touched my heart and God was speaking to my deepest longing- to go into the deep waters with Him.  At the end of the teaching she was talking about sitting quietly and asking God for revelation and then being quiet to hear.  She was doing this on the video with the group of people she was speaking to.  They partnered up.  The only partner I had was me, myself and I.

The whole time I am listening to her, I am working on this wave drawing.  Ever since I started it a certain person kept coming to mind.  I don’t know why.  This morning this person’s name kept ringing over and over in my head.  For whatever reason I kept feeling the nudging to add pink to the drawing.  So I did.

So, the DVD ended, I brought my drawing, bible and self into my studio and sat down to ask God to reveal Himself to me through scripture.  I talked to Him for a few minutes with my head in hands and then waited.  It didn’t take long and what came to my mind was Psalm 42.  I didn’t have a clue what Psalm 42 said so I looked it up.  Here it is.

As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When may I come to see God’s face?
3 My tears are my food day and night.
People ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 I will remember these things as I pour out my soul:
how I used to walk with the crowd
and lead it in a procession to God’s house.
I sang songs of joy and thanksgiving
while crowds of people celebrated a festival.

5 Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.

6 My soul is discouraged.
That is why I will remember you
in the land of Jordan, on the peaks of Hermon, on Mount Mizar.
7 One deep sea calls to another at the roar of your waterspouts.
All the whitecaps on your waves have swept over me.[b]
8 The Lord commands his mercy during the day,
and at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will ask God, my rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I walk around in mourning
while the enemy oppresses me?”
10 With a shattering blow to my bones,
my enemies taunt me.
They ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”

11 Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.

the wave

I am not making this up.  I sat there and read the scripture and just bawled.  It was for me.  I have been a little down and I am tired and just not feeling up to par.  I have poured myself out and I feel empty inside.  I have several ministry opportunities coming up that I am anxious about.  I know that God will strengthen and sustain me in these new things.   I know that when I listen closely to Him and do what He says-it will be HIM and not me showing up.  I am a vessel.  God is moving and showing me so many things that I am feeling the need to S L O W down and listen.  Don’t be hasty, don’t give up and don’t question or doubt.  My mind is working OT.  I want more of God but I also feel “plugged” up-like something more needs to be cut loose.  He cuts a little and I feel like “yay, we are on our way” and then there’s another branch that needs pruning and I’m saying, “ where did that come from?”   I feel like I am being tested and that I need rest.  I want to jump in the water and drown in God’s love-let it wash over me with endless waves.  My soul pants for His Living water.

My hope is in God.  The GOD who created the breakers, the God who told the ocean where to stand, the God who filled it with sea life, the God who has whispered to me, “ you are my beloved daughter and I love YOU.  I have given you pictures to paint and I want you to come and fly with me.  Paint my daughter, paint.”     This is the God who washes over me with His grace, love and peace.  The GOD who holds my heart in His hands.  The One and only TRUE LIVING, MOVING, BREATH GIVING GOD.

My hope is in YOU. Praise the Lord!

…and my friend….He is your hope too…one day we will swim in His deep, wide, blue ocean together….this is for both of us.  I have no idea if this means anything to you-but God knows.  I am walking in obedience in sharing it.  Margie Burger said that God loves our obedience and when we obey- He blesses.  We are not do ministry in the flesh-but only in the Spirit.  The flesh fails but the Spirit always wins.  Amen.

Now listen closely………..wooooooooo!

God has blessed me greatly this morning and I am hear to TESTIFY to the work that God is doing in us and through us.  I am in awe of how God is using social media to get His Word out into the world.

Several months ago I did this piece of artwork….

This past week I met a young man on FB.  He had seen my pictures and he told me that “ God gave him a blessing” from the pictures so he friended me.  He lives in PAKISTAN.  There is no way that I could ever reach Pakistan by myself.   So, I started looking through his photos and noticed some drawings in them  ( of course)  and I asked him who did them.  He told me it was his sister.  So I encouraged her to draw during the service and to keep up the awesome work.  I also posted the above piece of artwork to show her .

Well, I didn’t think about it again until this morning.  I get up and look at my FB page and this was on my wall…..

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that God wants this picture to be seen in PAKISTAN.  Who sits down and just does this?  I can so relate.  I feel like I have found a long lost soul sister.  ( and the fact that she had all the markers, the same colors and the paper??????????????  She made it her own by adding hair to Jesus and her dove is beautiful.)

Maria Sulaman

Can you believe this?????????????????????

WHAT A GIFT GOD HAS GIVEN HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ( and just look at that smile…….)

This is Maria and I think that Maria and I are going to be sharing the Word of God together to the children of Pakistan through ART.  I am trembling with joy and awe at how great our GOD IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   We take one little step and God moves in a HUGE way!!!!!!!!!!

WOW….no words….

God, you are GOOD all the time, God you want us to come to you like a child…and God I keep laying it all down and I keep walking into eternity with you and I can’t wait to see what YOU are going to do NEXT.  I stand in AWE and am humbled by what you are doing………. I thank you, I praise you and I ask your blessings over Maria, her family and her church and over the children of Pakistan-that they may come to know you through the works of OUR hands- the BODY of CHRIST.  I ask your blessings over this drawing that YOU will show someone something they have never seen before and that when they look at this drawing they will fall on their knees with YOU in their heart and that they will testify to YOUR GREATNESS and to what you have done inside of them.  Your rivers of Living Water flow from those who believe and this morning Father I ask that those rivers flow from every child that Maria meets and ministers to.  You are using the hands and feet of the Body of Christ here in Virginia and there in Pakistan to cause a change in people all over.  Only YOU can do that.  You lead, we listen, then act and then you move and affirm.  Praise you LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Amen.

A catalyst is something that causes change….when we use our gifts for God- He can cause things to change……WHATEVER your gift is- dedicate it to GOD and use it for His purposes and I can guarantee you-God will BLESS YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!!!!!!!!   ( and my take on that is that we are to walk barefoot because when we walk in His will-it is HOLY ground…)

( and Joel…I WILL definitely be getting a camera and a SKYPE account I can see us doing something together during a service with Maria there and me here….WOW!!!)

A Vibrant Life in Christ

Good Morning!

About 6 months ago a word was spoken over me.  That word was this: “ You are carrying a weight.  God wants you to let go of it. He wants to fill your dark places with light and life.  He is rejoicing over you with singing and dancing.”

God is singing over Me…???!???!!???

Well, since then, I have let go of the weight, and this word has come to life inside of me.  What I felt then-the weight that I was carrying- I had no idea it was there, until it was pointed out by a total stranger.  Another person, also a stranger, spoke to this weightiness in my spirit.  Three people prayed over me and I lifted my arms and let go of it all.  I told My Father in Heaven that I wanted it ALL and He heard my heart cry and He has become the song that is singing over me.  The JOY of the LORD showed up in my spirit through the Holy Spirit.  I have never experienced such joy as I do now.  God touched my heart that day and He turned me on.

That weight has been lifted and is now gone. PRAISE THE LORD!    It has been replaced with the Light and Life of Christ and He IS singing over me.  Glory! Glory! Glory! I hear Him through people, situations, nature, and of course His Holy and precious Word.  ( Thanks be to God in heaven for sending us writers, poets, songmakers , musicians and artists to tell it! )  Because of what has happened to me, God has given me a PASSION to lead others to the Living Water that he so desires to give us.  Often times that Water is right in front of us and we can’t even see it because our eyes are too busy looking at what the world has to offer.

Here’s the deal.  We are ALL exiles waiting to reach the Promised Land. ( which is heaven)   When Adam and Eve took the bait from the snake, they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden.  Oopsie!  BIG MISTAKE.  As human beings, we focus more on what Adam and Eve did rather than what God DIDN’T do.  He could’ve have just said, “that’s it, this didn’t work” and flick the human race off the face of the earth forever.  But he didn’t, did he?

What about that flood?  Ah…the flood.  He saved the best he could find-even though they were still a little messy- a drunk and a scandal.  He loved them anyway.

The truth of the matter is this- from Genesis to Revelation the God of Heaven has continued to come down and pour Himself out over us, on us and in us.  ( can you hear and feel the pouring???)  He longs to work THROUGH us but we let our “stuff” get in the way, don’t we?    He cannot fill up a vessel that has a lid on it.  It runs over and out but never through.

My job is to help pry that lid off.

God has given me a heart mission.  That mission is to spend my life being an encourager and prayer warrior through the Word of God.  I look around and see the wearing of the world in your faces,  in your bodies, through your voices, and in your actions.   I feel the weight of what you carry in my own heart and God keeps saying to me, “ release the prisoners through the gifts I have given you. You can do this.  I have designed you for this. You are not like everyone else and I have given you a very specific purpose and it’s time.”

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Almighty Lord is with me
because the Lord has anointed me
to deliver good news to humble people.
He has sent me
to heal those who are brokenhearted,
to announce that captives will be set free
and prisoners will be released.
2 He has sent me
to announce the year of the Lord’s good will
and the day of our God’s vengeance,
to comfort all those who grieve.
3 He has sent me
to provide for all those who grieve in Zion,
to give them crowns instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of tears of grief,
and clothes of praise instead of a spirit of weakness.

They will be called Oaks of Righteousness,
the Plantings of the Lord,
so that he might display his glory.

Did you hear that?  Crowns!  Joy!  Praise!

GLORY!  God wants to replace your weight with HIS GLORY!  WOOHOO!!!

God has placed so many people in my life, ( all of them strangers who have now become like family)  in the past several months to encourage me and to show me who I am in Christ.  The fuller I see that vision of who I am IN and THROUGH HIM,  the more vibrant the world around me becomes.  My Father in heaven has allowed me to see Him in everything.  From the bottle of “wite-out”  on my desk to the shadows on the ground outside my window.  In my seeing Him, I have also seen how others are not able to see Him and it breaks my heart.  I want them to see too!  God used many people to open my eyes and today I see how God is so full of Life and Light and all He truly wants for us is His goodness and grace. It’s my turn to help open others by using these gifts that He has so graciously given me.   It is an honor and privilege and I know I will do this until my dying breath because it is HIS breath that lives and moves inside of me.

The world can beat us down, when we let it.  It takes much work, dedication and commitment to stay on track and focused on God.  We are here to hold each other up, to encourage, to pray for and to walk through the fire with people.    Last night, as I was listening to some worship music, my heart was soaring.  The song talked about ashes rising.  I could see the sooty, dirty, black ashes rising to form a beautiful, vibrant, living, loving, breathing new YOU!  Often times when we are in the midst of the ash pile we can’t see our way out and we need help.

I’m here to help lift you, encourage you and breath life back into your spirit.  It’s what God has given me to do.  One of the ways I do that is through art, color, texture, light, and using God’s Word.  His promises are true and His words show up in the color, line and style of each piece of art.

Romans 12:1-2

Brothers and sisters, in view of all we have just shared about God’s compassion, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, dedicated to God and pleasing to him. This kind of worship is appropriate for you. 2 Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

water, peace, life

John 7:38

As Scripture says, ‘Streams of living water will flow from deep within the person who believes in me.’”

Philippians 4:4-7

4 Always be joyful in the Lord! I’ll say it again: Be joyful! 5 Let everyone know how considerate you are. The Lord is near. 6 Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. 7 Then God’s peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus.

John 12:35-36

“The light will still be with you for a little while. Walk while you have light so that darkness won’t defeat you. Those who walk in the dark don’t know where they’re going.36 While you have the light, believe in the light so that you will become people whose lives show the light.”

If you are someone who needs an encouraging word or a prayer, please contact me.  If you would like to spend some time with me creating some art to express your prayers, pain, hopes and dreams-give me a call and we can arrange a day to paint, to sing, to heal, to love and to praise God in ALL things.

I love you, but more importantly it is Christ in me that loves you.  He is the same today, tomorrow and forever and you are His beloved child.  He is singing and dancing over you as you read this….can you hear the thunder now?

Smile  Blessings for your journey!

This painting is all about releasing those things that hold us back.

We all have something that keeps us a certain distance away from who God wants us to be.  The key is discovering what that thing is and then releasing it.  When we release the things that bind us then we are truly set free.

There are scripture verses written around the edges of the clouds…

“It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free.” Galatians 5:1

“Release” Psalm 25:15

“FREE” Psalm 124

“Love” John 3:16

“ So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36

“ REJOICE with JOY”  1 Peter 1:18

“ASK and you will receive so that your JOY may be full.” John 16:24

God has given each of us a unique story to tell-it’s His story and our story revolves around His.  Our story is like a key that can help unlock another person and when we share it it has the ability to help open eyes and hearts so that they might receive the story of Christ.  Whether we realize it or even admit it- we are all connected by the blood of the One who came to save us.  Jesus Christ.  Some just haven’t experienced HIM yet.  Tell your story.  You can do it in a million different ways-in a letter, through a phone call, a homemade pie, a piece of art, a poem, a tie die shirt, a ball of yarn or just a smile.  Don’t keep what GOD has done inside of you to yourself.  It is to be shared!

Our release quickly turns to JOY UNSPEAKABLE….the figure in the painting is covered with the multicolored glory of God!  Arms wide, hands free and ready to receive all that God has…

it is our destiny to be free….

let it go…

so you can fly…
