ART MINISTRY 101
Art Ministry meets this Saturday-March 5, 2011 from 1 pm – 3 pm at OOTBWC UPSTAIRS!
Hope to see you there!
Haha! I just realized that these look like VT chairs! Too funny! I did not plan that! Really….I didn’t!!!! But I know that Hannah Terry will love them!!!
These are some of the chairs we got from Trinity Church as a donation to the children’s ministry at OOTBWC. This Saturday we are going to work on them at the Art Ministry and paint designs on them. We want this area to be bright and fun for the kids! I can see Hannah turning these into little VT chairs now……
This one was an experiment. It looked pretty bad until I spray painted it black and added a seat decoration. It says, ” God made the stars” and it has my version of the BIG DIPPER in dots, as stars, on the seat back. On the back of the seat it says The BIG DIPPER. haha. I can hear the kids saying ” I get to sit in the BIG DIPPER chair! ” Haha! So, now we will have to do a little dipper chair…..
Anyway- I have had a blast today- getting these things ready and giving the kids ideas to work with for their chairs! We also got a large donation of paint, brushes and glitter from an anonymous donor! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This cart came from Trinity and it will come in very handy as my “Art ala CART!” haha!
We are soooooo blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all and thanks be to GOD!!!!!! Love you all!
Dirt, dust and sin-what do they have in common?
Today I spent the morning cleaning the children’s area upstairs at OOTBWC. There is a huge room upstairs where we are in the planning stages of having our children’s ministry during Sunday morning services. But before that can happen we have to clean it up. As I was working I was reminded of how dirty and dusty our personal sin is. So I took some pictures as I was working so I could share my thoughts with you. As you read and go throughout your day, week and month, please pray for God to send us workers to help with this ministry need. We are getting ready for a full house!
Our sin comes in all shapes and sizes, some chunky, some dusty and some like powder. Sometimes we can’t even see it until we start to clean up our act. When we start cleaning we realize what a mess we really are and how much cleaning we need!
We sweep, sweep and sweep. We collect it all in a pile for the dustpan. But do we leave it there? NO!
We dump it! We get rid of what is making us dirty, dusty and smelly.
Then we clean ourselves with something that smells sweet-but it often takes more than one mopping to get it all. And you know what? That’s ok! God sees that your heart is trying to do the best it can and He rewards those who try. We just keep mopping until we are bright and shiny and that takes a lifetime. So, don’t worry if you aren’t all sparkly and clean yet- just keep trying. God will get you where you need to be when you persist and persevere.
This room was so dirty and I didn’t realize how dirty it was until I started to clean it. With every mopping, the water got blacker and blacker. I would go back for more, clean, hot water and cleaner and do it all over again. I know it will need to be done again soon. There is dirt hidden in cracks and crevices that we can’t even see. God will reveal the dirt and then help us get clean. Just like this room. We can’t do anything without God. So, don’t be discouraged-be encouraged! Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and let God help clean you up! You’ll never regret it!
May God bless you and keep you!
God’s grace is beautiful and all consuming! Just like this paint in this picture-each of us is a color, a different hue made for a different purpose. All unique. When we all come together to do God’s work beautiful things happen and others come to experience the grace of God through that work.
I have never been more stretched or full in my life. I feel like my colors are spilling over. Yes- I said colorS! We all hold many colors (gifts) within us and we discover them one by one, as God allows. The reasons for my stretching are many-God, my husband, my daughters and my family. God has stretched me through Bethel, FUMC Hillsville, OOTBWC and Bethel. In my Bethel studies I have read over and over again of the amazing grace that God has for each of us. It is uncontainable once we realize it is there. For me-it comes in colors. These are just a few of those colors.
How does it come for you? I’m curious to know!
