Grannies…and art

I’ve been thinkin’ about Grannies today-my Granny Marie and  Patti and Cathy’s Granny Jewel…wonderin’ what they are up to “upstairs!”  I know they are in my midst-I’ve been cleaning the studio in preparation for what is to come and I feel their presence with me as I go through this process of sorting through 12 years of stuff-deciding what to use for the Art ministry and what to keep here at home.

Granny Marie’s newspaper printer desk ( it used to be the home of a cartoonist!)  holds many memories.

Granny Jewel’s paintbox is just dying to be used again…this was given to me as a gift last year, from Cathy and Patti.    I am their “adopted” sister in Christ.  Granny Jewel and I share the same ideas about God and painting!  Imagine that!   Whenever I go to another church to do chalk art I always take a tube of  “Granny”  with me.   Always yellow- reminds me to SHINE!  🙂

The easels are empty and ready to hold the treasures that will come from the children’s hands.  God will be on the top of the heap!

Well, it is finally clean and organized- ready for a new year!  …and some new paint!  LOL

Thanks to all of you for your many prayers, encouragement and incoming donations for this exciting new ministry!  I couldn’t do it without you!  You are a blessing to me!

About godw1nz

I am the mom of three beautiful daughters, wife to a genius, sister to a teacher, sis-in-law to an engineer, daughter to a yankee and a rebel, and a woman chasing God. I love to read, draw and be with my family. If the reading inspires me, then I draw what I read. Almost everything I draw is based around or about Jesus Christ. I attend church at First United Methodist Hillsville. Ronnie Collins is my associate pastor, also a blogger here. I love the Lord with all my heart and I hope what you see here will inspire your heart.

  1. The desk of Granny Marie’s was used to create the comic strip “Speedy Kelly” by Frank Lewis. Granny treasured that desk, lucky you to now own it.
