Alive and in love

I just love this band…NEED TO BREATHE….they play with passion and I love their sound.  They remind me of some other musicians I know!  When you listen to them you can’t help BUT fall in love with Jesus.  The words in this song talk about being touched by “something beautiful.”

The name of the band says it all to me- “need to breathe”.  We all need to be aware of what we are breathing in and out.  Are we taking God IN and then letting God OUT?  Inhale…exhale…are we remembering who our Creator IS and what He has DONE?

God did it

Just by breathing….

At first his breathe spoke the world into existence- day after day He created something beautiful just by speaking.  He saw that it was all GOOD.

But then He did something different- something beautiful- He picked up some dirt and he formed man.  He held it, he touched it, he molded the dirt into a shape.  In HIS image we are created.  We are the shape of God.  He counted the hairs on his head,  placed each bone, tendon, muscle and ligament carefully in place, he put the fingerprints in his skin, and he fused Himself with humanity by placing His heart into man’s body.  But wait-something is missing-ahhhhh….ooooh….there     goes…thump……..thump….thump…thump..thump.thumpthumpthumpthump.  The breath of God lives in man-pumping HIS blood through your veins!  That’s LOVE.

Do you realize this?  Do you believe that God lives in you?  I hope so because I certainly do!  Look at your hands-they are God’s.  He placed them there.  Look at your feet.  They are God’s.  He placed them there.  Now take your hand and place it over your heart….do you feel that?  That, my friend is GOD.  He is alive and well and He lives in you!  He IS what you breathe in and breathe out-even if you don’t realize it or believe it.  I believe it for you.

A friend of mine told me that sometimes we have to have faith for others.  God gives us people to pray for, to lift up, to encourage and to help along the way.  We have all had those people in our lives.   So, if you are reading this and you have no faith, or have lost your faith, I believe it for you.  I believe that God is a miracle worker and that whatever you are going through today he WILL bring you through it.  He will not let you drown.  He WILL take you THROUGH it and he does give you people to help you along the way.  I know that someone out there needs to hear this by the way God is working through my keyboard.  There are times when I write and it comes on me like a storm and this is one of those times.  So let me encourage YOU that you ARE  something beautiful because you have been created in the image of God, by his very hands and with his very breath.  He lives and breathes in you.  You are a precious child of God and He loves you no matter what you’ve done, said or been through.  He is always there.   Always.

Never give up.

God saw that it was very good!   And that means YOU!

This Sunday, December 5, 2010 is our first preview service at OOTBWC on Main Street in Hillsville.  The work is still going on, and the excitement is stirring up the dust.  I pray that every person the dust touches will be compelled to come and worship with us this Sunday morning at 9:30!   Think about the dust for a minute- it is minute- the specks can’t be seen individually with the naked eye, but they can be seen when they come together as a group.  Sort of like a sand storm in the desert.  It starts with one grain and a little wind until it escalates into a huge sand  storm.   You see it, you hear it and then you experience it.  The sand gets in every crook and cranny.

Well, OOTBWC is the same way- we, the people, are like the dust and sand, and every person we interact with will be compelled to come by our passion and excitement.  The Holy Spirit is our wind-gathering us in one place to storm Hillsville for Jesus Christ!

As I think about the storm, I am reminded of the dust that Jesus kicked up with his feet as he walked from place to place… each foot step echoing….

follow me….”

I dare you!

9:30 am, OOTBWC, Main Street, Hillsville, Sunday, December 5th.  You’ll never forget it!

Presents or Presence?

Presents or Presence?

Luke 2: 10

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”

The angel brought the shepherds GOOD NEWS and GREAT JOY for ALL people! This news was the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God came down to live with his people on earth. He left his heavenly home to live among his creation. He chose to come in the form of a precious little baby boy. He also chose to come in the purest form possible- through a young virgin named Mary.

Joseph was a carpenter- a man who was all too familiar with wood and trees. I wonder if he knew that his son would be hung from a wooden cross that was once a tree. That would come later.

He required much of his faithful servants-trust and obedience. You see He desired the world to know him in a very personal way- I mean who can help not falling in love with a baby?

I stand in awe as I think of how our God, the Creator of the universe, came down to earth in the form of a little bitty baby. He came to show us how to fall in love with Him and how to live a life of love.

He came to earth so that we could feel, live and breath in His presence. He yearns for each of us to know him intimately. A relationship built out of a love for humanity.

That’s the GOOD NEWS and the GREAT JOY! And guess what? It’s for everyone! ALL people, everywhere! We are not to be afraid of it, rather we are to embrace it with passion, share it in love and live it in JOY! So as we begin this season of JOY-my prayer is that we all live in HIS presence and that we remember that HE is the best present EVER! A free gift of love.

Let’s help others unwrap this beautiful, eternal gift from God.

Many Blessings,
