The Long Way Home

I am listening to Exodus 13 as part of my homework assignment for Bethel.

 Exodus 13:17

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.[a] The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

I have read this over and over and I never caught this until I listened to it.  The Israelites  could have taken the shorter route, but God chose the route that would glorify Him!  That route was in crossing the Red Sea!  He knew they couldn’t get across without Him!   They had to depend on God’s power and might to get across the Red Sea.  Isn’t that exactly the way we are?  Don’t we come to trust God when we EXPERIENCE God?  And how do we experience God?  By listening to what He tells us to do.  I would say that the Israelites got a good dose this day!   Remember-God knows the plans he has for you-even if it means taking the long way around!

About godw1nz

I am the mom of three beautiful daughters, wife to a genius, sister to a teacher, sis-in-law to an engineer, daughter to a yankee and a rebel, and a woman chasing God. I love to read, draw and be with my family. If the reading inspires me, then I draw what I read. Almost everything I draw is based around or about Jesus Christ. I attend church at First United Methodist Hillsville. Ronnie Collins is my associate pastor, also a blogger here. I love the Lord with all my heart and I hope what you see here will inspire your heart.
