The Glory of God

Standard

This is for a friend….  I remember the first time I met you…you were teaching SS and I was new in your class.    God put you in my path for a reason and one of those reasons was to help me grow in God’s knowledge, wisdom and grace.  I remember the first lesson I taught-on creation!  I was convicted by that lesson.  Now, here we are 4 years later, in yet another season of learning and growing.  You are now a Shepherd of God’s sheep.  You gently pick up the sheep when they are lost, you tend to them and care for them as if they were your own children.   Now here I am, in the Bethel class, right where you were a few years ago.  Creation, conviction, belief, love, mercy and grace has flooded my soul all over again.  Affirming what I have always known-that God IS and God WILL ALWAYS BE.  He is the very essence of our being.  His breath permeates our souls and we wake up every morning, fresh,new and alive-all because of HIM.   Creation is proof of God’s existence.  We are PROOF.    We are the reflection in His mirror, just as He is in ours.  We are to shout and sing praises to God of His wonder and glory!  The world  sees it everyday- they just don’t recognize it as God.  The heavens declare the glory of God-the skies proclaim the work of  His hands!

Psalm19

 1 The heavens declare the glory of God;    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  2 Day after day they pour forth speech;   night after night they display knowledge. 3 There is no speech or language  where their voice is not heard.  4 Their voice  goes out into all the earth,
       their words to the ends of the world.

Psalm 104

 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul.
       O LORD my God, you are very great;
       you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

 2 He wraps himself in light as with a garment;
       he stretches out the heavens like a tent

 3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
       He makes the clouds his chariot
       and rides on the wings of the wind.

 4 He makes winds his messengers, [a]
       flames of fire his servants.

 5 He set the earth on its foundations;
       it can never be moved.

 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
       the waters stood above the mountains.

 7 But at your rebuke the waters fled,
       at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;

 8 they flowed over the mountains,
       they went down into the valleys,
       to the place you assigned for them.

 9 You set a boundary they cannot cross;
       never again will they cover the earth.

 10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
       it flows between the mountains.

 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field;
       the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters;
       they sing among the branches.

 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;
       the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work.

 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,
       and plants for man to cultivate—
       bringing forth food from the earth:

 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man,
       oil to make his face shine,
       and bread that sustains his heart.

 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered,
       the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

 17 There the birds make their nests;
       the stork has its home in the pine trees.

 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats;
       the crags are a refuge for the coneys. [b]

 19 The moon marks off the seasons,
       and the sun knows when to go down.

 20 You bring darkness, it becomes night,
       and all the beasts of the forest prowl.

 21 The lions roar for their prey
       and seek their food from God.

 22 The sun rises, and they steal away;
       they return and lie down in their dens.

 23 Then man goes out to his work,
       to his labor until evening.

 24 How many are your works, O LORD!
       In wisdom you made them all;
       the earth is full of your creatures.

 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious,
       teeming with creatures beyond number—
       living things both large and small.

 26 There the ships go to and fro,
       and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.

 27 These all look to you
       to give them their food at the proper time.

 28 When you give it to them,
       they gather it up;
       when you open your hand,
       they are satisfied with good things.

 29 When you hide your face,
       they are terrified;
       when you take away their breath,
       they die and return to the dust.

 30 When you send your Spirit,
       they are created,
       and you renew the face of the earth.

 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever;
       may the LORD rejoice in his works-

 32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles,
       who touches the mountains, and they smoke.

 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life;
       I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him,
       as I rejoice in the LORD.

 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth
       and the wicked be no more.
       Praise the LORD, O my soul.
       Praise the LORD. [c]

Thank you dear friend.  This song reminded me of you and I can just hear you playing this on your piano now…

Joy for your journey,

D.

Hi! Last Sunday was our first Bethel Bible study class.  Our assignment was to read Genesis 1-25, answer questions and memorize our concept cards.  Tonight I am on Chapter 17 of Genesis and have memorized some of the concept cards.  It takes me awhile to memorize things, but with God’s help-all will be well!  I am really loving how God is showing me things I’ve never seen before.  I believe that part of the reason for that is that I have been asking the Holy Spirit to guide me in my reading and studying.  Ask and you shall receive!

 In Genesis 1  I noted all the things that God did.   Take a look.

 God said,God saw,God made, God called,God placed, God created, God blessed.

 In Genesis 2…

 God rested, God blessed, God formed, God breathed, God planted, God placed, God grew, God took, God put, God commanded, God said, God brought, God caused, He took, God fashioned.

 Genesis 3

 God made, God said, God walked, God called,  God drove out, God stationed.

 VERBS.  These are all action words.  Our God is a God of action-and he has  made us in His image-to be people of action.  We are to put our FAITH in action and BELIEVE that God created the world and everything in it.  No explanation required.  Just belief.    Hebrews 11 says that ” by faith we are to understand that the worlds ( note the plural on world) were prepared by the WORD of God, so that what is seen was not made out things which are visible.”

Isaiah 45:18 (New International Version)

 18 For this is what the LORD says—
       he who created the heavens,
       he is God;
       he who fashioned and made the earth,
       he founded it;
       he did not create it to be empty,
       but formed it to be inhabited—
       he says:
       “I am the LORD,
       and there is no other.

 GOD is our Creator.  Living and breathing.  We were created in His image,  by a Living Being-one who moves, loves, breathes and gives us life.  He designed us with a purpose in mind.  We are intricately woven together by the Master’s hands and filled with His everlasting breath of life.  Today I was reminded of how we are bound together by a simple three corded braid of different colors.  I had used this braiding material on a project several years ago and I happened to run across it a few days ago.   I unwound it from the spool and the end that was cut was coming unbraided. That caused more of it to come undone until I put a piece of tape on the end to hold it together.   So I took a lighter and burned the ends, until they melted, fusing the threads to one another.  This formed a type of binding.  I took a length that was long enough to make a bracelet and I put a knot in the middle of it.  I wrapped it around my wrist and tied the ends together in another knot.  This braiding is all different colors-representing( to me) the many races and colors that God created in humans.  Humans that must co-exist, learning to love, to laugh and to live together by the grace of God.   The knot represents Jesus.  He ties it all together with His redeeming love.    I will wear this to remind me of Our Creator and who He is.  It will remind me of God’s love, mercy and grace for ALL of creation.  It’s funny how a little thing like that can speak to me…

No words needed….

Psalm 19

 1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
       the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

 2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
       night after night they display knowledge.

 3 There is no speech or language
       where their voice is not heard. [a]

 4 Their voice [b] goes out into all the earth,
       their words to the ends of the world.
       In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun

Do you believe?

I do.   Without a doubt.

Thank you Bethel teachers!
