This piece was inspired by our conference’s commitment to drilling wells in the Sudan. It has been turned into a card here-but it really began as a logo for Project Living Water. This is a project that raises money to drill wells and provide clean water to the people in Sudan. The mother and child are carrying water buckets on thier heads. Jesus is the Living Water and he has told us to give people a drink. It is when we meet the physical needs first that we can then meet the spiritual needs of all people. This is what missions is all about.
This next piece was inspired by the writing of Debbie Ginder. She was a missionary in Zimbabwe for several years. This is a mother who had prayed and prayed for food for her hungry family. God was faithful in providing “mealie meal” for them. This is what is on her head- a bag of mealie meal. God supplied her needs.
The earthquake in Haiti, earlier this year, deeply touched my heart. I have several friends who have been missionaries to Haiti in the past several years. One of them brought me back a piece of Haitian art. I used the colors and figures in that piece to draw inspiration from for this one. After the quake hit many people turned back to God and this drawing shows a woman giving God her offering-of everything she has.
Last year I went to Slovakia on my first mission trip. I fell in love with the city and her people while there. I also discovered that I have a heart for missions. All the work I have done since last October is mission related. Either from my own trip or someone else’s. I am inspired by stories I hear and the hearts of missionaries the world over. Missions is not just about going places-it is about being in mission with and for God every single day. Our life IS a mission. That mission is to bring others closer to God. We do that by making offerings with our mind, body, soul and heart.
This next piece represents my journey with God while in Slovakia. The path leads to God and God is right around the corner! Keep walking! This is how I came up with the name for these cards-FAITH WALK. We walk by faith and not by sight every single day of our lives!
I thank God for the gift of creativity and insight. All of my work has hidden meanings-things that are personal to me. You might see something different! I encourage you to use the gifts that God has placed within you. Don’t keep them hidden-He gave them to you to glorify HIS HOLY NAME! We ALL have gifts and gifts come in many, many forms. No two are alike. I encourage you to seek God and discover yours!
May you draw nearer to God everyday,
