So Then Faith Comes By Hearing

 by Minnie Adkins-76

 1995

This one tickles my heart because you don’t really get the big picture until you start investigating the figures and see what they are reading in thier little books.  Their facial expressions are priceless.  I mean even the animals are hearing God’s Word.  Some people are raising arms, some are kneeling in prayer and some are singing.  All shapes, sizes and varieties of people!

The Preacher is preaching from Romans 10:17 ( I am using the MESSAGE)

14-17But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That’s why Scripture exclaims,

A sight to take your breath away!
   Grand processions of people
telling all the good things of God!
But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: “Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it?” The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to.

Look at the faces…look at the sun ( SON) shining in the sky, do you think people are hearing the message in this painting?

 I do.

 Why?

 Because it is being shared!

Are we sharing God’s Amazing Grace with the people around us?

That’s what Minnie has done in this painting.  She is sharing God’s Word for those who will see and hear and believe.

 I love you Minnie Adkins!

…and by the way….the choir is singing “Amazing Grace!”

 Note the eyes-looking to heaven!

 My favorite!

I am the mom of three beautiful daughters, wife to a genius, sister to a teacher, sis-in-law to an engineer, daughter to a yankee and a rebel, and a woman chasing God. I love to read, draw and be with my family. If the reading inspires me, then I draw what I read. Almost everything I draw is based around or about Jesus Christ. I attend church at First United Methodist Hillsville. Ronnie Collins is my associate pastor, also a blogger here. I love the Lord with all my heart and I hope what you see here will inspire your heart.
