The “32”

Mary Englebreit- A Touch of Nature

Anyone who knows me well, knows how much I love Mary Englebreit.  She started drawing at a young age and her first studio was in her bedroom closet!  I think that is just great!  I have taught myself her technique of drawing, sketching, outlining, inking and coloring.  It is very detailed and whimsical- which is what I like about her work.  I look to Mary’s work for inspiration…colors, style, details.  I see things one day that I didn’t see the day before.  Mary draws from the heart about people.  I draw from the heart about God.  My style is my own, a little of her, a little of me and sometimes just plain weird!  I like it that way.  I have had people tell me that they know my work without seeing my name.  That says a lot to me!  I have finally developed my own style.  For years I always tried to draw like other people instead of like me.  It’s a learning process!

Last night my oldest daughter reminded me of how much I used to paint.  She started ticking projects off and here I thought she wasn’t paying attention all those years ago! haha!  On Friday we attended the Remembrance walk at VT.  After the walk we had a chance to create some art of our own.  We had so much fun painting and goofing around.  I especially loved sharing little painting tips with Ray and Laura.  It was fun to watch their work come to life after a few pointers.  Ray created an awesome sunset scene ( or was it sunrise…) and I had to laugh at how he particular he was about where his colors were.  Perfectly in line.  Me…well, I just throw a little here and there and see what happens.  It just shows how different people are!  Here is some of the work that we did:

by Ray Edmonds

by Patti Holderfield

Nica by Laura Holderfield

John 14:6 by Corynn Godwin

by Sussie Slaugenhaupt

by Anna Lee

by Donna Godwin

And our two new friends!

It was a sweet, sweet time of fellowship and we enjoyed discussing the things of God and life while we painted.  God was in the day, in the walk and in the life of those who have gone on before us.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families of the 32 children of God who were lost on that tragic day in April.   Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the family of the one who took the lives.  May we all be ever mindful of our time here on earth and who our Creator is.  He is the healer of all, the lover of souls and the One who pours His mercy and grace over all who will accept it.

May God bless you all!

The “32” who have gone before us…

The 7000 who walked and remembered you…

you are missed and loved by many…

God Bless you…

Grace

Standard

I have loved this song since it first came out.  Please listen to the words.  We ALL know someone who feels like they are alone, lonely and that people don’t care.  As Christians- it is our responsibility to show the compassion and love of Christ to all of God’s people.  We MUST look beyond the outside and look at the INSIDE of people.  Everyone has God inside them-we must help them search out His plan for thier lives.  Extend a hand of grace to someone today-even when it’s hard.  Do it!  You will never regret it!

Wake Up!

Standard

Good Morning!

As I was cleaning and doing laundry early this morning-I was listening to this song.  I have heard it a million times but for some reason this morning the words to the song began to really tug at my heart.   Maybe it is because we just spent an awesome week of revival with Team Impact here in Hillsville.  Every night we have had many, many salvations and the total for the week is around 138 people saved.  There were over 40 who recommitted thier lives to Christ and there were also those who didn’t come forward, but accepted Christ quietly in thier seats.  There over around 2400 people in attendance during the week.  That is awesome!  I know there are many more people who need a Godly touch in thier lives- they just don’t realize it yet.  Let us pray for an awakening in our country.  Let us pray for the Holy Spirit to fall on all Christians, like a tornado, so that through our testimony we can sweep others up into the heavenly realms where God lives.  God wants all of us there with Him.  He does not want anyone to perish.  So, let’s make sure that doesn’t happen!

I thank God for Team Impact, for our church and the work being done through the people there.  Most of all I thank God for sending His Son to save us.  A Son who came to us through an obedient young woman and a man of God.

Please listen to these words closely- because this song speaks to each of us and our salvation.

Are we being silent?

Is this our “Silent Night?”

I hope not.  Wake Up O Sleeper!

America…let’s wake ’em up!

“While You Were Sleeping”  by Casting Crowns

Oh little town of Bethlehem  ( Hillsville)
Looks like another silent night
Above your deep and dreamless sleep
A giant star lights up the sky
And while you’re lying in the dark
There shines an everlasting light
For the King has left His throne
And is sleeping in a manger tonight

Oh Bethlehem, ( Hillsville) what you have missed while you were sleeping
For God became a man
And stepped into your world today
Oh Bethlehem, ( Hillsville) you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King  ( where is YOUR King sleeping?)
While you were sleeping    ( Wake Up O Sleeper!)
While you were sleeping    ( You’re gonna miss it! Wake Up!)

Oh little town of Jerusalem  ( Carroll County)

Looks like another silent night
The Father gave His only Son
The Way, the Truth, the Life had come  ( did you see Him?)
But there was no room for Him in the world He came to save   ( are you full of worldly junk? No room?)

Jerusalem, what you have missed while you were sleeping    ( All cities everywhere….don’t miss your free ride to heaven!)
The Savior of the world is dying on your cross today    ( Don’t you know? The Savior of the world loves you SO much he died for your sins-your worldly junk)
Jerusalem, you will go down in history   (….please don’t go down in history this way…)
As a city with no room for its King        ( There IS room for the King… in YOUR heart…get rid of that worldly junk…Let the LORD of all creation enter in!)
While you were sleeping      ( Wake UP!  Listen!  Act!  Don’t WAIT!)
While you were sleeping       ( Wake   up   o   s  l  e  e  p  e  r …)

United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we’re sung to sleep by philosophies    ( let’s be sung to sleep by creation- God breathing life over us- and not by the speculation of scholars)
That save the trees and kill the children  ( this is so, so, so wrong…God grieves over His children as He carries them home in his loving arms)
And while we’re lying in the dark
There’s a shout heard ‘cross the eastern sky  ( Are you listening? Are you awake? Can you hear the call?  The trumpet?)
For the Bridegroom has returned  ( isn’t He beautiful…mmmm)
And has carried His bride away in the night   ( Be ready!   He will come like a thief in the night… are you prepared? )

America, what will we miss while we are sleeping      ( Think about these last lines…)
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping
Will we be sleeping

United States of America
Looks like another silent night

( Let’s NOT be another Silent Night- let’s be awake and ready to be carried away by the Lord of the Universe)
