Children’s Time

Standard

Today I had to talk to the children about Ash Wednesday.  I told them that we wore a cross of ashes on our foreheads to remind us that without God we are nothing…  nothing but ashes.  Then I told them that it was also a time of saying we are sorry for the bad things we have done, that we ask Jesus to forgive us.  Then I listed a bunch of things on paper with some charcoal and began smudging it with my hands.  I had very dirty hands!  I showed them my hands and asked them how to get them clean.  Of course they said SOAP and WATER!  I said that was right, and then asked them how  we get our hearts clean with God?  They said to ask Jesus for forgiveness.  I then removed my invisible tape from the paper to reveal a snow white cross.  This signifies our cleanliness  through repentence.

2 Corinthians ( MSG)

Companions as we are in this work with you, we beg you, please don’t squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us,
   I heard your call in the nick of time;
   The day you needed me, I was there to help.
Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off;
